Operation Feedback on Qingdao Nanchen Customized Steel Shot Filling Shell Molding Line

The customer involved in this feedback was previously plagued by multiple challenges in production, including space constraints, insufficient casting cooling time, and difficulty separating steel shot from impurities such as coated sand, flash and burrs. Meanwhile, the customer also had demands for production capacity expansion and environmental compliance. To fully resolve these production issues, the customer conducted extensive research on casting equipment solutions available in the market and ultimately partnered with Qingdao Nanchen, aiming to break through development bottlenecks with a custom-built production line.

Upon receiving the customer's requirements, Qingdao Nanchen's professional team centered its efforts on the shell molding process and carried out precise customized design tailored to the customer's specific needs. The production line integrates five modular units, namely pouring & cooling, shot-sand separation, steel shot cooling & storage, dust removal, and control. It adopts PLC interlocked control and supports both automatic and manual operation modes, ensuring seamless connection between all processes while balancing operational ease and maintenance convenience. To address the space constraint issue, an innovative double-layer cooling section design was adopted, combined with liftable transfer carts and ceramic fiber insulation boards. This design enables layered cooling of 120 sand boxes within a limited space, which not only meets the technical requirement of prolonged casting cooling but also increases space utilization by 50%. For the problem of impurity separation, the line is equipped with a multi-stage separation system consisting of drum screening, magnetic separation and curtain-type air separation, achieving a separation efficiency of 99.5% for steel shot from coated sand, flash, burrs and other impurities. To meet the demands for production capacity expansion and environmental compliance, the production line features a continuous design and optimized steel shot cooling process, ensuring that the temperature of cooled steel shot is ≤ 65℃. Additionally, a high-efficiency dust removal module is configured to control the dust concentration below 5mg/m³.

Since the commissioning of the production line, the customer has reported that the line operates stably with all core indicators exceeding expectations. The long-standing production issues such as space constraints, inadequate cooling and difficult impurity separation have been fully resolved. The improved space utilization and production efficiency have fully tapped into the potential of the existing workshop resources, while significantly reducing potential risks to casting quality. The environmental emissions fully comply with relevant standards, and the production capacity achievement rate far exceeds the preset target. This over-expected user experience has not only earned the customer's full recognition of the production line's reliability but also facilitated the successful launch of multiple subsequent cooperation projects between the two parties.
